Who is Rev. Kevin Yell?
Through my work as a preacher, liturgical consultant, and writer, I aim to empower ministry leaders, congregations, and seekers to break free from outdated narratives and embrace a vibrant, engaging spirituality. Every person, every community, has a story worth telling—and I’m here to help you tell yours.
My Journey
From an early age, my life has been a blend of faith and creativity. Growing up in the UK within the Roman Catholic tradition, I experienced Jesus not as a distant figure but as a living, personal relationship. This foundation shaped my view of God as an ever-present Creator, inviting us all into an ongoing story of renewal and connection.
My passion for the arts emerged in my teens and has never left me. Whether as a choreographer, actor, designer, or writer, I’ve used creativity as a lens to explore spirituality and community. Over the years, I’ve had the privilege of choreographing for iconic spaces like St. Paul’s Cathedral in London and Coventry Cathedral, producing my first play, Gate 13, about being gay and Catholic, and contributing to publications like Act Justly and Acts of Salvation. These experiences have allowed me to weave together my love for the arts and my dedication to faith, bringing new life to worship and ministry.

My Work & Achievements
For decades, I’ve dedicated my life to inspiring worship and empowering communities through creativity, storytelling, and ministry. As a minister and liturgical consultant, I’ve worked with congregations of all sizes, helping them rediscover the joy and purpose of meaningful worship. My work has extended to hospice care, where I’ve supported individuals and families in navigating life’s most sacred transitions with compassion and grace.
My creative journey has been equally fulfilling. At 27, I wrote and produced my first play, Gate 13, exploring the intersection of being gay and Catholic. I’ve choreographed for renowned spaces like St. Paul’s Cathedral in London and Coventry Cathedral, bringing sacred art to life in ways that resonate deeply with audiences. As co-editor of Act Justly and Acts of Salvation, I’ve explored how faith and creativity can transform individuals and communities. My upcoming book, Keeping the Ink Wet (set to release in 2025), continues this mission, blending ancient wisdom with fresh insights to reimagine worship and ministry.
Every step of my journey has been about one thing: creating vibrant, transformative experiences that connect people with God and each other in profound ways.
My Philosophy
At the heart of my work is the belief that God’s first revelation to humanity is as Creator. In Genesis 1 and 2, we see a God who delights in the act of creation, forming a world filled with beauty, purpose, and endless potential. This vision shapes everything I do, inspiring me to bring creativity, joy, and authenticity into worship and ministry.
I believe worship is not meant to be rigid or routine but alive, engaging, and deeply personal. It’s about creating spaces where individuals and communities can encounter the Divine in ways that resonate with their unique stories. By combining ancient traditions with fresh insights and creative expression, I strive to help people connect with God’s joy and presence in their lives, empowering them to live with greater purpose and freedom. Worship should be a celebration—a vibrant reflection of the Creator’s love for us all.

I’m driven by a passion to see worship come alive—full of joy, creativity, and deep connection. For me, it’s about more than just ministry; it’s about empowering people to see themselves as co-creators in God’s evolving story.
